About the exhibition
For the first time in Germany, two adventure journeys through body and time lead into a fascinating world of science and cultural history on the subject of food and drink. Interactive stations, archaeological finds, anatomical models and cultural-historical testimonies will offer exciting insights into the history of nutrition and the paths of food in our body.
Journey through the body at the Museum Weltkulturen
Experience an adventurous journey through the inside of a human body. With a variety of theme islands and hands-on areas the exhibition spectacularly illustrates the path of food and how it strengthens us as a source of energy.
Journey through the time at the Museum Zeughaus
Travel through time and discover the peculiarities of European eating and drinking cultures from the Palaeolithic through different epochs into the future. This part of the exhibition focuses on milestones in food history, but also on topics such as sustainability among Ice Age reindeer hunters, take away food in Ancient Rome, vegetarianism around 1900 or what modern pizza has to do with "local" and "global". The future section shows a wide range of food ideas for tomorrow.
To accompany the large special exhibition "Eating and Drinking", the rem Stiftungsmuseen C4,12 will present the ZEPHYR photo exhibition Gabriele Galimberti: In Her Kitchen and the show "Zum Wohl! Gläserne Trinkgeschichten" (Cheers! Glass drinking stories).
