About the exhibition
From A like Archegosaurus to Z like Zephyrosaurus
Their names are often hard to pronounce, but they captivate both children and adults. We are talking about the dinosaurs and their relatives - the multifaceted rulers of prehistoric times. As early amphibians and reptiles, as pterosaurs and marine reptiles, and as dinosaurs, they inhabited all areas of life on earth for many millions of years. What is less known: Their story continues to this day with birds. Sparrow, crow and the others are bird-dinosaurs, whose ancestors survived the asteroid impact 66 million years ago.
Dinosaurs - more than stars on movie screens and in children's rooms
Our exhibition brings the prehistoric reptiles to Mannheim and brings their world to life. With numerous fossils, mounted skeletons, lifelike reconstructions and more, we provide exciting insights into the world of T-rex & Co. There are amazing things to discover: What do traces reveal about their creators? Not every prehistoric reptile was a dinosaur. Was everything with feathers a bird? The exhibition showcases finds from around the world and fascinating discoveries from the Odenwald and the Palatinate region. Additionally, we tell you Mannheim's very special pterosaur story, in which a globally significant fossil plays a leading role.
