About the exhibition
Robert Häusser (1924 – 2013) is one of the main representatives of German post-war photography. For a long-term editorial project, he focused on the Upper Rhine region from 1961 to 1965. The landscape photographs taken in the course of this project, as well as the scenes from everyday rural and urban life, bear witness to the wide range of his artistic skills and invite the visitor to take an atmospheric journey through time. In the digital age, these analoge photographs have a special magic. As unique historical documents, they illustrate the economic boom of the 1960s in the German, Alsatian and Swiss regions along the Upper Rhine and document the political and social changes that slowly became bridges for a united Europe.
An exhibition presented on the occasion of the trinational project "The Rhine", organized by the "Netzwerk Museen", an initiative of MuseumsPASSMusée.
