Research unit Frühgeschichte (Early History)

The “Frühgeschichte” (Early History) research unit works on archaeological finds from the Rhine-Neckar and Middle Rhine regions and covers the Roman, Merovingian and Carolingian eras. A catalogue of holdings including descriptions of the excavated finds and all objects as well as visual documentation is being compiled at present. Findings from the study of the Merovingian-era burial grounds around Mannheim will be presented in the permanent collections of the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen.
