IDZEB - Innovation Hub for the Digital Future of Research and Preservation (in Museums)

About the Project

With the establishment of the Innovation Hub for the Digital Future of Research and Preservation (in Museums) (short: IDZEB), the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen continue their tradition of an interdisciplinary approach, expanding it to take a leading role in addressing the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in the museum sector. IDZEB focuses on developing innovative solutions for the digitization, research, and preservation of cultural assets. By employing digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), IDZEB will enable museum works to be more efficient, future-proof, accessible, and sustainable.

The overarching goal of IDZEB is to develop new and innovative approaches for researching and preserving cultural heritage. Existing research methods and preservation techniques will be further refined and supplemented by new interdisciplinary approaches. Emphasis is placed on digital archiving, the use of modern AI-based methods for provenance research, and technological advancements to preserve cultural assets. The Innovation Hub also aims to promote collaboration among researchers, museum professionals, and technologists to create forward-thinking solutions.
